Un Round Robin Test « Comparison of Concrete Rheometers : International Tests at the Artois University » a été organisé les 28-29-30 mai 2018 sur la rhéologie et la tribologie des bétons. Cet évènement s’intègre dans les problématiques de la RILEM et en particulier dans le cadre des actions menées par le Comité RILEM – TC MRP-266 : Measuring Rheological Properties of Cement-based Materials animé par le Dr Mohammed Sonebi (Queen’s University Belfast).

Ce n’est pas la première fois que des chercheurs et laboratoires internationaux se penchent sur cette problématique puisque deux autres RRT lui furent consacré :
le 1er RRT au LCPC à Nantes (France), du 23 au 27 octobre 2001,
le 2ème RRT au NIST à Cleveland (USA), du 19 au 23 mai 2003.

Cela faisait 15 ans qu’il n’y avait pas eu de RRT organisé sur ce sujet. Pourtant durant cette période, les progrès ont été considérables, tant par l’élargissement de l’éventail des nouveaux bétons, des progrès effectués par les appareils de mesure (rhéomètres) que par l’exploitation des résultats.

Avec l’apparition des nouveaux rhéomètres, il devient donc indispensable de connaître les équations de passage d’un rhéomètre à l’autre et d’établir des procédures d’essais communes. Ce RRT a permis de valider également de nouveaux dispositifs pas encore commercialisés.

The Round Robin Test "Comparison of Concrete Rheometers: International Tests at the Artois University were organized from 28 to 30 May 2018 on the rheology and tribology of concretes, respectively. This event is part of the issues developed by RILEM and within the framework of the actions carried out by the RILEM - TC MRP-266 Committee: Measuring Rheological Properties of Cement-based Materials chaired by Dr Mohammed Sonebi from Queen’s University Belfast (UK).

This is not the first time that international researchers and laboratories have been investigating the rheology of cement-based materials since two other RRTs were organized:
The first RRT at LCPC in Nantes (France) in 23-27 October 2001,
The second RRT at NIST in Cleveland (USA) in 19-23 May 2003.

After 15 years, there was no RRT organized on this topic. However, during this period, the progress has been considerable, as much by the widening of the range of the new type concretes, the progress made by the new devices (new and up rheometers) and finally the way to analysis of the results.

With the appearance of new rheometers, it becomes essential to know the equations to connect the different rheometers and establish common test procedures. This RRT has also validated new devices in development.
